<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3150541" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="144">You can use variables in the path name: $(inst) stands for the path of the directory in which $[officename] was installed. $(user) stands for the path where the user installed his or her $[officename] files during the workstation installation. $(path) stands for the path variable of the operating system.</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3153193" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="U" oldref="162">You can change the sequence of entries by clicking the bar in the <emph>Type</emph> column. The column width can be changed by moving the separator between the columns with the mouse.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3150439" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="CHG" oldref="190">In the following list of paths, {netinstall} stands for the main $[officename] directory, which may reside on a network file server. The user data for each user is stored in the {userinstall} directory.</paragraph>
<paragraph role="heading" id="hd_id3152598" xml-lang="en-US" level="3" l10n="CHG" oldref="198">Entries in the path list with more than one path</paragraph>

<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id3153363" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="CHG" oldref="191">Some entries may contain more than one path. The {netinstall} directory contains files that can only be read, not written, by all users. The system administrator can define common templates, AutoTexts, or graphics in the {netinstall} directory. </paragraph>
<paragraph role="paragraph" id="par_id1166722" xml-lang="en-US" l10n="NEW">Every user has an own {userinstall} directory, to which the user also has write-access. On UNIX systems, this directory is inside the Home directory, on Windows systems it resides inside "Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data".</paragraph>
