You can save and open documents to and from several mobile devices file formats.Currently the following filters are available:AportisDoc for Palm OS compatible devicesPocket Excel for Pocket PC compatible devicesPocket Word for Pocket PC compatible devicesInstalling the Pocket PC filters under Windows will also install a DLL file that supports the synchronization software of your Pocket PC.i67157The Java Runtime Environment is required to use the mobile device filters.Installing the mobile device filtersClose $[officename] and the Quickstarter.If you are using the Windows operating system with ActiveSync installed, disconnect any Pocket PC device from ActiveSync.Start the $[officename] Setup program:Open the Windows Start button, choose Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs, select the %PRODUCTNAME %PRODUCTVERSION entry, click Change.In Setup, choose the Modify option and click Next.Open the Optional Components entry, then open the Mobile Device Filters entry. Select the filters you want to install.Click Next, Next, Install, Finish to install the filters and exit the Setup program.Saving $[officename] documents for a mobile deviceChoose File - Save As.Open the File type box and select the appropriate filter.Enter a name and click Save.Opening mobile device documents in $[officename]Choose File - Open.Open the File type box and select the appropriate filter.Select the file and click Open.Synchronizing file typesTo convert Pocket PC formats to and from $[officename] formats, you must first change some options within ActiveSync. To do this, open the ActiveSync window and open its Options dialog. Perform the following steps:Select the Rules tab.Click the Conversion Settings button.Click the Device to Desktop tab.Select Pocket Word Document - Pocket PC and click Edit.In the drop down list of available conversions, select $[officename] Writer and click OK.Repeat steps 4 and 5 for Pocket Excel Workbook selecting $[officename] Calc.After these steps you can copy documents between $[officename] and your Pocket PC, either by the ActiveSync software or by the Windows Explorer. The filters will be applied to the document files automatically.
